Heritage House – San Marino, CA – USA

Project description

Extensions and alterations of a 1939 heritage-listed house

The house is located in the Spanish Colonial Revival heart of San Marino – Los Angeles County – USA.

Valuing the historic character and legacy of the building, the owner wanted to give the best possible renovation, while at the same time making a contemporary family home, timeless and elegant in style and finishes.

The design has achieved a minimal impact on the existing streetscape, keeping the original heritage color scheme and features of the house.

The first-floor addition is located on the rear part of the existing building respecting the past and values of the house with minimal impact.

A significant part of the renovation involved the reconfiguration of the existing ground floor to  improve the connection among the rooms and the garden.

High-end furniture and finishes of earthy tones and raw textures, not overly formal, contribute to create a natural flow throughout the new interior spaces tied in with the reconfigured outdoor areas and garden.
